Gettysburg Remembrance Day
2012
Each year the 69th Pa assembles at Gettysburg in November for an active day of honoring the men who fought with
our regiment in that battle. Our losses on July 2 & 3 were almost 50% including our Colonel Dennis O'Kane and Lt.
Colonel Martin Tschudy killed. Twenty One of our killed are buried at the National Cemetery. Our morning begins at
the cemetery with a solemn ceremony honoring these dead. This ceremony has been captured in an excellent video
which can be viewed below. The regiment then marches to the stone wall and copse of trees we defended during the
battle where words are spoken by members of our regiment; we review the past years activities and where each year
we honor the men of a different company of the Sixty-Ninth. We next participate in the annual Remembrance Day
parade marching through Gettysburg with thousands of other Union & Confederate reenactors.
The roll of the honored dead is called by Captain Eller at the Cemetery ceremony
