The 69th participated in the recreation of the Battle of New Market in the
Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where in 1864 students from the Virginia Military
Institute helped defeat the invading Union army. A tactical and two battles recreated
the fight in the farming valley between the Massanutten & Allegheny mountains.
