The Sword of Lieutenant William McNamera
2nd Lt. William McNamera, Company I, was wounded during the fighting at Fredericksburg. He was hit by a rebel bullet that entered his left leg below the knee on the inside passing through his leg and exiting. The bullet also damaged his sword. McNamera's sword is currently owned by a Civil War buff in Los Angeles who sent this website a collection of photographs. McNamera would later command Company I on July 3rd at the wall.
