This year marked the 145th anniversary of the battle of Antietam (Sharpsburg) where Lee's
first invasion of the north was stopped on September 17, 1862. The recreation of the battle
was held on a beautiful farm near Harper's Ferry. The property contained rolling hills; rugged
slopes and wide fields. The fights at West Woods and Sunken Road were featured. The 69th
Pa battleflags were carried into both actions.
The officers fly tent continues to be the center of regimental activity at reenactments.
